Having said that "web-based email services" suck donkey. Use mutt over ssh for even more sanity points. :-)

The Telecom department isn't populated by monkeys - they scan actively on tunneled traffic, and I know cow-orkers who lost their job here because they tunneled to their home machines.
But sometimes I can pick up a loose open WLAN here, which is thankfully being used by my Nokia smartphone :)
